Many of Cardlink's fleet managed customers lacked the information to be able to properly monitor and manage their pool vehicles. Questions were often left unanswered as to who was using the vehicles, what their usage was, why there always seemed to be too many in the car park or why there was not enough available for use. Clients also wanted the ability to easily and transparently book a vehicle, without it being a cumbersome process. At the heart of it was often a stressed vehicle administrator.

So Cardlink and FleetSmart developed PoolBook, a web based booking application that lets you book your vehicles within user-defined security and access rules. It automates the entire reservation process. The system allows fleet operators to manage multiple drivers, requiring various vehicle types, over a range of locations.

For a fleet managed customer, FleetSmart analyses this usage data. FleetSmart will then advise on how to best increase the vehicle pool's efficiency and the expected savings there from. FleetSmart will accurately assess a pool fleet's true optimal size.

For fleets not managed by FleetSmart, reporting is also available for internal assessment.

End-users only need an internet connection to book a vehicle. Users and vehicles are also allocated to cost centres for internal billing.

Cardlink CEO, Ben Unger states, "We saw a very simple need that enabled us to manage vehicles better, and let the customers manage their own assets as well." Cardlink Solutions developed the product in asp.net, integrated to its Fleet Manager host.
