After a robust, open and competitive tender process, Wellington City Council has chosen to continue outsourcing its fleet management requirements, and to expand the fleet management services it receives.

The Wellington City Council has chosen FleetSmart, a division of Cardlink Systems, to manage its vehicles. The council fleet comprises of over 400 light vehicles, trucks and plant. Outsourced tasks include the payment of service providers by FleetSmart and the gathering / analysing / reporting of fleet-related data.

"FleetSmart offers full purchase-to-disposal fleet management, including pro-active authorisation of repairs, speedy payment of merchants, driver training and vehicle selection" said Craig Baldwin, FleetSmart Fleet Manager. "Their choice utilises our core competency, so the Council enjoys best practice fleet management."

The Wellington City Council joins several other councils already utilising FleetSmart's management service, including Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin City Councils.

FleetSmart provide a full vehicle management service to ensure a given fleet is optimised, fit for purpose and consistent with the customer's environmental policy. They do this independently of the funding process and can advise on sourcing when needed.
